We will be hosting the sixth installment of our ongoing Sound Fountain series on Sunday, 09.27.09, at South Philly’s Singing Fountain Park, featuring DJ sets from Aesop Collective residents Accdntly, and Modesta; along with sets by special guests, Linz & Mars [New Zealand] and your favorite boy toy, Bryon Stout. The festivities kick off at 1:00 and will run right up ’til sundown (roughly 7:00 p.m.), so come out early and stay late!

For those ‘directionally challenged’ individuals among us, the Singing Fountain is located at the intersection of Tasker and East Passyunk Avenue. Google it. Don’t forget: this is a free event…and it’s BYO (just do us a favor and keep those drinks concealed!), so don’t come empty handed.

There’s only one more of these events planned for the 2009 season, so if you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing one of South Philly’s premiered outdoor parties now is the time! Next month’s installment will feature a line-up comprised exclusively of Aesop residents, and we’ll probably be breaking out the scarves and hot cider…so get out and enjoy the little bit of summer that’s left!

PLEASE NOTE: In the event of rain this event will be canceled. Stay tuned for more information.

This one has been a long time coming, folks; but we’re proud to announce that on 07.09.09, the Aesop Collective will be hosting Sweden’s Jasper TX for one of his first ever U.S. dates! He’ll be joined by Anduin, who runs the excellent SMTG Limited label, as well as Aesop residents Modest.a (who will be debuting her first ever ambient DJ set!), Radere and D. Elias Tinker. This is going to be a treat for your ears, so don’t miss out!

Jasper TX
Gothenburg, Sweden • http://myspace.com/jaspertx • Miasmah, Kning Disk, Fangbomb, Fenetre, SMTG Limited
Besides being one half of the rather amazing post-rock duo De La Mancha, Jasper TX’s Dag Rosenqvist has released a number of carefully drafted and very well received solo recordings with labels such as Miasmah, Kning Disk, Fangbomb, and Lampse. His work is primarily guitar driven soundscapes covered in layers of drums, voices, organs, toy pianos, field recordings, and effects. Comparisons have been made to artists such as Fennesz, Aidan Baker, and Machinefabriek, with whom Rosenqvist has released two collaborations. In 2009, he followed 2008′s Black Sheep album on Miasmah with a new record titled Singing Stones on Fangbomb and an immense collaboration with Anduin on SMTG Limited. These will be Jasper TX’s first ever US dates.

Anduin
Richmond, Virginia • http://smtgltd.com/anduinore • SMTG Limited

Anduin’s Jonathan Lee creates dark, pulsating ambient electronics soaked in layers of synths, samples, and field recordings. He has collaborated with a number of international artists including Svarte Greiner, Jasper TX, Stephen Vitiello, Noah Saval, Xela, Gareth Davis, and his own experimental band, Souvenir’s Young America. His live shows and gallery installations include a variety of self-made sets, collected props, and hidden lights. In 2009, he has 3 new projects slated for release: a live collaborative EP with Svarte Greiner, The Bending Of Light LP with Jasper TX, and a new full length titled Abandoned In Sleep, all of which are on SMTG Limited.

UPDATE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, this show has been MOVED to THE DENTURE FACTORY at 501 North 32nd Street (the flier has been updated with the appropriate info). We’ve secured a nice performance space that is outdoors, so this should be a really special night of music. Hope to see everyone out!

The festivities kick off at 1:00 and will run right up ’til sundown (roughly 7:00-7:30 p.m.), so come out early and stay late!

Summer is just starting to kick into gear, and the Philly techno heads at Rizumu have officially kicked off their annual series of weekly outdoor dance parties to greet the season appropriately. Dubbed ‘Fountain Green,’ the event usually goes down right on the banks of the Schulykill in scenic Fairmount Park; sadly, on account of the shaky weather, this week’s installment has been moved to Our Place in West Philly. Aesop resident Carlo Flamingo will be throwing down the rainy day jams, while John Schenk will spin his usual heady blend of deep ambience and stripped-back rhythmic workouts. The action kicks off tonight at 9:00 p.m., and, as always, this is a BYO event. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?! Come out and party with us!
